Just wanted to post a little picture from today! If you look closely, you can see that I haven't been too good about rotating my tomato plants under the lights - there is a strip of darker green which is the tomatoes closest to the lights! They are going to be hardened off over the next week, so I'm not really going to worry about moving them around, the rest will catch up.
I set them outside for about an hour yesterday, and had them out for two and a half today, and they seem to be tolerating it well so far. I have really done a number on some tomatoes in the past by being overeager to get them outside. I'm trying to be patient! Off to hang out with some kiddos for the afternoon, and hopefully get some sun myself!
Your tomatoes look great! I have not even started mine yet but will very soon. We plant them out around May 24 here in Ontario. I like your blog colors, the blue and green look nice.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a great start on your tomatoes Megan...what varieties are you growing?
ReplyDeleteDan- Thanks! I started mine either the last week in Feb. or the first in March, I can't remember, but it's been so warm, they've just taken off! I did not put mine in the ground until the first week of May last year, so I'm a little nervous!
ReplyDeleteSunny- Thanks! I'm growing 13 different varieties this year- Roma, Big Boy, Caspian Pink, Green Zebra, Brandywine, Margherita, Delicious, Sweet 100, Sweet Million, Striped Paste, Super Beefsteak, Pineapple, and Jubilee yellow. Last year, I only did Big Boy, Roma, Sweet 100, and Jubilee Yellow, so I'm excited that I'll be trying a lot of different ones!
I wanted to stop over and say "hi!", I love the 'about me' bit, turtles and dogs, life is good! Those tomatoes are nice and big, I look forward to following along with your 2010 season! :)
ReplyDeleteKelly- You are right! Life is good! Thanks for stopping by! :)
